Immigrants for Sale

Posted by Thiago at May 28, 2015, 8:09 pm in Movies » Documentary - Society

The detention of migrants has become a multi-billion dollar industry in which immigrants are sold to the highest bidder and traded like mere products. The Corrections Corporation of America, The Geo Group, and the Management and Training Corporation run over 200 facilities all over the nation. These facilities offer over 150,000 bed spaces and rake in a total profit of close to five billion dollars per year. The fact that these detention centers get paid for the number of people that are in the center per night offers, therefore, no incentive to speed up the legal processes and let the detainees leave the facility.... read more

Bilderberg'$ Club

Posted by crispino at May 22, 2015, 6:41 pm in Movies » Documentary - Conspiracy

They began meeting in secret in 1954. Their membership was comprised of the upper echelon of society; the most powerful and wealthy figures from the fields of academia, politics and business. The groupќs founders included tycoon David Rockefeller and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, both elite leaders within the oil industry. What may have started as a simple meeting of the minds, where current issues could be discussed, analyzed and debated, would soon morph into something far more sinister in its influence.

Cloaked in the shadows from the light of public scrutiny, these emperors of industry began to form their own self-serving agendas, and wielded their immense power and resources to redesign the world in their vision. They called themselves the Bilderberg group, and their organization still exists and operates to this day.... read more

The Dark Side of Time

Posted by colibri at May 11, 2015, 7:29 pm in Movies » Documentary - Science

A documentary about dark matter, dark energy and inflated big bang. Is space-time fragmented, segmented into quantized bits of information, or causal sets?

Or is space-time smooth and continuous, with curves, bends, and warps; just as Einstein had predicted?

Is what we call space-time even part of objective reality or is it just a mathematical construct that appeals to our perceptions?

The answer could be all of the above depending on our frame of reference. When we apply Temporal Mechanics to Physics, it appears that there are underlying aspects to Relativity that subtly show up in Quantum Mechanics as extra dimensions of time.... read more

The Most Intelligent Apes In the World

Posted by jurgen at May 4, 2015, 8:48 pm in Movies » Documentary - Psychology

At present there are two families of hominoids. The first family is the Hylobatidae which comprises 4 genera and 14 species of gibbon including the Lar Gibbon and Siamang which are collectively known as the lesser known apes. The other family is the Hominidae which includes chimpanzees, gorillas, humans and orangutans which are together known as the greater apes. Another primate species known as Barbary Ape has also the name ape associated with it but is the true ape. Except humans and gorillas all apes have the potential to climb on the trees. They are placed in the category of omnivorous animals as they feed on fruits, seeds and even on animals hunted or scavenged. They are able to digest both plant and animal matter very well. They are native to Africa and Asia but humans have inhabited themselves in all parts of the world.

Most of the nonhuman ape species now share the category of endangered or rare. They are on the verge of extinction because of the loss of the tropical rainforests and some species were even hunted for the bush meat. The word ape has been derived from an Old English word. A group of apes is known as troop. The gibbon family or Hylobatidae is made up of fif medium-sized species. They can be identified by the presence of large arms which they used to brachiate through the trees. Their wrists are the ball and socket joints which are an adaptation to their arboreal mode of life. Siamang is the largest among all the gibbons weighing about 14 kg. The smallest greater ape is the common chimpanzee which weighs about 40-65 kg. The great ape family was earlier named as Pongidae and... read more

Pigs are extremely intelligent animals. Much like humans, they have their own personalities, quirks, likes and dislikes. Pigs pick up tricks faster than dogs and can even learn to respond to their names when called. Pigs are also very social animals and they communicate with each other constantly through a series of sounds. Despite popular opinion, if given the choice pigs will go to the bathroom far from where they eat and live.

Pigs also have very powerful maternal instincts. Some studies show that they make sounds similar to singing to their young.

This documentary was filmed over a two-year period with footage from over 50 piggeries and slaughterhouses across the Australia. The film depicts what has sadly become standard industry practice for pigs that are bred for food.

At the pig farm a sow is confined to a cell that is so small that she can only stand, sit, or take a step forward or backward. There is not enough space for her to turn around. There the sow remains for up to six weeks at a time after being forcefully impregnated two to three times every year. This situation causes the number of ... read more

ALGORITHM: The Hacker Movie

Posted by sandoval at April 20, 2015, 10:07 pm in Movies » Documentary - Technology

This 2014 movie by Brandx Industries has at its core the very issues that are currently shaking the modern world: privacy, human rights, the role the government plays in the lives of its citizens, and the value and power of technology.

Most people have no idea what a hacker can do. Hackers don’t see locks as obstacles; to them they are simply entertainment that can lead to bigger and better things. Most freelance computer hackers don’t care about privacy or laws. They live by one rule: information should be free and everything can be simplified and coded and understood as information.... read more

War on Whistleblowers

Posted by barrios at April 14, 2015, 8:23 pm in Movies » Documentary - Society

This documentary film brings to the light a few recent cases in which government employees and contractors went before the media to expose their discoveries on fraud and abuse. In every case, the whistleblower paid a high price for the exposé.

Some believe that people need to be willing to stand up and speak the truth, regardless of what the consequences might be. Whistleblowers are the pioneers of change because in order for things to get better, the truth needs to be told.

However, there are others who believe strongly that we shouldn’t make national heroes of those who steal classified information and publish it in the newspaper.

Whistleblowers have become a fundamental part of democracy because they have unquestionable patriotism and a lot of courage. These men and women have actually changed history because they stand up and say ‘something needs to be done’.

The National Security State encloses itself in a wall of silence and pretends to be interested in national security when the reality is that it’s interested in the security of corporate interests and of politicians. So it attacks and ... read more

The Zen Mind

Posted by bolivar at April 7, 2015, 4:52 pm in Movies » Documentary - Religion

Zen is a school of Mahāyāna Buddhism. The Japanese word Zen is derived from the Chinese word Chán, which in turn is derived from the Sanskrit word dhyāna, which means “meditation” or “meditative state.”

Zen emphasizes experiential prajñā in the attainment of enlightenment. As such, it de-emphasizes theoretical knowledge in favor of direct realization through meditation and dharma practice. The teachings of Zen include various sources of Mahāyāna thought, including the Prajñāpāramitā literature and the teachings of the Yogācāra and Tathāgatagarbha schools.

The emergence of Zen as a distinct school of Buddhism was first documented in China in the 7th century CE. From China, Zen spread south to Vietnam, and... read more
